Laura Johnston Kohl - Jonestown Survivor

Laura Johnston Kohl joins the podcast on episode two to talk about her time as part of the Peoples Temple and surviving the Jonestown massacre. Laura grew up as an activist in Washington D.C., she was introduced to the Peoples Temple in attempt to get a hold on her life at the time. She spent nine years with the organization and was very close with the infamous leader Jim Jones up until the end. After the tragedy, she bounced around and joined Synanon, became a teacher, public speaker, Quaker, and eventually penned her experiences with the Peoples Temple in her book Jonestown Survivor: An Insiders Look.
